Communications Technologies from VCA to Roll out in 2017

Member choice is the basis for offering new digital services

PAHRUMP, Nev (Jan. 10, 2017) –  New technologies from Valley Communications Association will be offered in 2017, providing members options to TV and IP telephone service, the Cooperative announced today.

VCA’s fiber-optic network will make possible an array of communications upgrades, said CEO Thomas H. Husted.

“Our members have made it very clear to us that they want choice,” said Husted. “They want to make their own decisions about how to manage their communications and entertainment options, and these new broadband offerings will allow them that choice.”

The new technologies include:

IPTV. “Internet Protocol Television” or simply “IP Television.” Superior to cable television offerings provided by traditional providers Cox, DirecTV, or Dish Network but delivered over a broadband network instead of a traditional cable TV coaxial cable.

Voice-over-IP. This service allows for telephone service through the member’s broadband connection. Typically, it has a lower cost and a higher voice quality. It can also be utilized with broadband applications on a smart phone or computer to give more control.

SmartHome / Home Automation.  A home automation device allows users to control lights, electrical outlets, garage doors, locks, doorbells and thermostats remotely from a smart phone or computer. You will also be able to monitor IP cameras, motion sensors, window breakage detectors and water detectors.

VEEK Squad. VCA technicians will be at your service to help you get the most from your VCA Broadband. Veek squad techs will provide professional I.T. and technology support to the member at the member’s location for a fee.

Managed WI-FI. An in-home router connected to your broadband service will enhance the performance, reliability and maintenance of any device connected to your high-speed communications network. The router also has special software that allows technicians to solve problems remotely.

All the new services except IPTV are expected to be available to members by the beginning of April 2017. VCA estimates that IPTV will be available by July 1, 2017.
